The zoo is highly considered for both in-situ and ex-situ species conservation. The zoo also offers talks on genetics, research and current scientific jobs roles in the field of animal science. 

As part of the curriculum we are offering an Educational Visit to Colchester Zoo to all Year 12 BTEC Applied Science Extended Diploma students. This visit will link in with several units including:  

-        Unit 6 Investigative Project 

-        Unit 11 Genetics and Genetic engineering

-        Unit 7 Contemporary issues in science 

We will travel to Colchester Zoo by coach, departing Suffolk One at 9.30am and we expect to arrive back at Suffolk One at 3.30pm, however this will be dependent on traffic.  

The trip costs £24:00 per student.  This includes the coach travel and entrance to the zoo.  Students are required to either bring a packed lunch or money to buy refreshments throughout the day. 

Please return parental permission slip directly to the Finance Office (G104) between the hours of 9.00am-1:15pm by Friday 6th March
